Jewelry Care

Care for Your Jewelry.

Taking care of your jewelry is simple when you know the basics. This guide will help you protect its shine and elegance in everyday life.

Universal Rules

  • Do Put jewelry on last — after perfume, lotion, and hairspray have dried.
  • Do Wipe every piece with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
  • Do Store each piece separately to prevent scratching and tangling.
  • Do Keep jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Do Remove all jewelry before sleeping.
  • No Spray perfume or deodorant directly onto any piece.
  • No Wear jewelry in the shower, pool, or sea.
  • No Apply hand sanitiser while wearing rings or bracelets.
  • No Use toothpaste, baking soda, or abrasive cleaners on any piece.
  • No Store pieces loose together — metal scratches metal.

Stainless Steel & Titanium Steel

Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, anklets — our most durable material

316L stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, tarnish-resistant, and hypoallergenic. It handles daily wear without issue. Routine cleaning is straightforward.

To clean: Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. For a deeper clean, add one drop of mild dish soap, wipe, rinse briefly, and dry immediately. Never air dry — always finish with a dry cloth.

Avoid: Bleach, chlorine, abrasive pads, and prolonged submersion in water.

Pieces described as vacuum plated or PVD have a finish bonded at a molecular level — significantly more durable than standard electroplating. The same care rules apply, and the finish will hold its colour for the long term.

Sterling Silver — S925

Rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches

925 sterling silver carries the international hallmark confirming 92.5% silver purity. It develops a natural surface patina over time — this is called tarnish. It is not damage. It polishes off completely in minutes.

To clean: Use a silver polishing cloth — rub gently in one direction. For heavier tarnish, soak briefly in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, scrub lightly with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and dry immediately.

To slow tarnish: Store in an airtight pouch or zip-lock bag between wears. Air exposure is the primary cause of tarnish. An anti-tarnish strip inside the bag extends the time between polishes significantly.

Avoid: Rubber bands, wool, and felt — these contain sulphur, which accelerates tarnish.

Gold-Plated & Rose Gold-Plated

Bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings

Plated pieces carry a real gold or rose gold layer over the base metal. They require more deliberate care than solid metals — but treated correctly, they hold their colour well.

To clean: A soft dry cloth after each wear is sufficient for routine care. If needed, dampen the cloth very slightly with plain water, wipe, and dry immediately. Never soak.

To protect the plating: Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or washing hands. Sweat and water are the fastest ways to wear down a plated finish. Apply perfume and lotion before putting the piece on — never after.

Avoid: Any chemical contact, abrasive cloths, and prolonged moisture.

Copper, Brass & Alloy

Decorative bracelets, rings, earrings, brooches, hair accessories

These metals are used in our more decorative pieces. They are best suited for occasional wear rather than daily use, and they respond well to consistent, simple care.

To clean: Wipe with a soft dry cloth after every wear. For light tarnish, dampen the cloth with warm water, wipe, and dry immediately. For stubborn tarnish on copper, a small amount of lemon juice on a soft cloth — wiped quickly and rinsed off — restores shine. Dry completely.

Note on copper: Copper can leave a temporary green mark on skin in humid conditions. This is a harmless chemical reaction — not a quality issue. It washes off easily.

Avoid: Water submersion, prolonged skin contact in humid conditions, and storing without a sealed pouch.

Stone-Set Pieces

Cubic zirconia, moissanite, rhinestone, natural gemstone — rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings

The metal and the stone both need attention. Stones lose their sparkle from a film of skin oil and dust — not from damage. A gentle clean restores brilliance immediately.

To clean: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For micro-pavé or intricate settings, use a very soft toothbrush with plain water to dislodge dust from between stones. Dry immediately and completely. Let the piece rest face-up for a few minutes to ensure no moisture is trapped in settings.

Avoid: Ultrasonic cleaners (vibration loosens micro-pavé settings), steam cleaners (heat damages resin-set stones), soaking, and harsh chemicals.

Pearl Pieces

Necklaces, earrings, hair accessories

Pearls are the most delicate material in our range. They scratch easily and are sensitive to chemicals. The care routine is simple — it just needs to be consistent.

To clean: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth after every wear. Never use soap, detergent, or any chemical cleaner. Dry gently and allow to air dry completely before storing.

To store: Keep separately from other jewelry in a soft fabric pouch. Do not store in an airtight container long-term — pearls need a small amount of humidity. Lay pearl necklaces flat — hanging long-term stretches the cord.

Avoid: Perfume, hairspray, and chlorine — these dull pearl lustre over time. Put pearls on last, take them off first.

Handmade, Braided & Cord Pieces

Woven bracelets, pull-cord bracelets, braided gemstone bracelets

These pieces are constructed using cord, thread, and natural materials. One rule matters above all others: keep them dry.

To care for: Remove before washing hands, showering, or swimming. If the piece gets wet accidentally, lay it flat on a dry cloth and allow it to air dry naturally — no heat. Adjust pull-cord pieces gently — the sliding knot is not designed for force. Store flat in a pouch, not coiled or hanging.

Avoid: Water, direct sunlight for extended periods (natural gemstone beads can fade), and tight coiling during storage.

Hair Jewelry & Brooches

Brass and alloy pieces with crystal, pearl, and enamel embellishments

To care for: Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use — hair products build up on metal surfaces quickly. Check pin mechanisms before each wear to confirm the clasp closes securely. Store flat in a lined pouch or box — do not stack, as pins scratch embellishments. Keep away from moisture to prevent pin mechanisms from rusting.

For crystal or pearl embellishments on these pieces, follow the stone-set and pearl guidance above.

Storage

Most jewelry damage happens during storage, not during wear. The principles are simple: separate, dry, dark, and still.

  • Do Store each piece in its own soft pouch — pieces touching each other is the most common cause of scratches.
  • Do Use a compartmented, fabric-lined jewelry box for pieces you wear regularly.
  • Do Store sterling silver in an airtight pouch or zip-lock bag — air exposure causes tarnish.
  • Do Hang necklaces and chain bracelets where possible — it prevents kinking and tangling.
  • No Bathroom storage — humidity accelerates tarnish on silver and alloy.
  • No Windowsill storage — UV exposure fades plating and some stones over time.
  • No Piling pieces together — even in a drawer.
